I had always hoped that the Bengals fans were pissed about their teams unmatched dedication to losing.

It sounds corny but many have died for your right to express your opinion.
I suppose the Nazi Football League thinks that it can impose its will on us
little people...Please dont let them.
I like your site and agree with everything on it.

Hey Fraidy, read about your problem in USA Today. So if this sight was named
mikebrownisgreat the NFL would still be on you? Right- these morons are
unbelievable. As they said in Animal House-" we've got to take him- he's a
legacy." That's your problem pure and simple with Brown. I've been a 49er
fan my entire life and read with interest that poinigent letter from the
family businessman. I felt his devotion to the Bungles like I do to the
Niners. I was at both SBowls that we beat (eked by) you guys. What most
folks forget is that the Niners were in the exact same spot as the Bengal's
in 1978. The man running the franchise was a drinking buddy/crony of
DeBartalo Sr. named Joe Thomas. An ego maniac who traded away draft choices
for a broken down running back named OJ something or other, alienated the
fans- we had people traveling to road games with signs saying "hey Joe we're
here" and basically thought he was bullet proof. He was wrong! After
several years of losing, revolving coaches- 3 in one year- and a public
relations nightmare (sound familiar?) Eddie Jr- sacked it up, fired dad's
buddy- hired Bill Walsh- gee he could have been the Bengal's coach OUCH- and
most importantly got the hell out of the way. Five Super Bowls later proves
the point- turnarounds can happen fast. We aren't very good now, but with
some vision and leadership we're on the way back. Keep up the fight!

I've hated the Bengals for 25 years now. All I have to say is GO MIKE!!!!!! You are the best friend that anyone who supports football outside of Cincy has ever had. Keep up the ineptitude dude.

Hey Dave,
Yep, the Bengals SUCK, and Mike SUCKS the biggest of all. His Father , where ever he is is surely ashamed of his son's behavior. Mike is not worthy of even having Brown as his last name. All Mike cares about is his bank account. Screw the fans, the city of Cin. and Hamilton County is what he is doing.
The NFL should get some balls and get rid of this guy.
MIKE BROWN SUCKS.
keep up the good work.

Gentlemen,
The outrage of Mike Browns incompetance is so huge that it extends beyond the Pacific and into another Hemishpere. I've been a Bengals fan for twelve years, so to say I've suffered is an understatement. The Bengals are so bad that they haven't had a TV match in 4 years (BTW Pay TV has only existed here for 4 years). Mike Brown's a joke, the Bengals are a joke, I'm a joke amongst my American football friends, I've had it, I want to change teams, but I just cant do that.
Keep stirring up shit, one day the bastard will crack.

Dave, I love you!
I was living in Cincinnati in 88-93. I still have my Borgman sweatshirt
with the "Next..." caption on it. I can't say I'm a life long fan of the
Bengals, but football was always big in my house growing up, and the
Bengals name stood on its own. It's unfortunate that Mike Brown doesn't
have a clue, and I think the website is both timely and appropriate.
The fact that the NFL is concerned with the slanderous nature of your
website rather than addressing the issues you put forward in your
closing of the response says way too much about how the NFL conducts
itself. Profit and greed are their bottom lines, not accountability.
Shame on them, and shame on the practices and players it stands to
protect.

I am behind you 100%. After reading that letter from the Business man
I was brought to my knees in grief over your franchise. I am a native San Franciscan,
who loves Football, and I agree that Mike Brown is not getting it done. I mean you pass
on Boselli ? Roaf ? You don't trade with Nawlings to draft Akill who has done what ?
You and the city of Cincy need somebody to make some changes. Keep up
the site, and may the football gods shince on P-Dub

Cease and Desist...Isn't that what happened to the Bengals competitiveness of the Bengals under Brown? I am a Titans season ticket holder, and my experience is that Bengals fans are the most shafted in sports.
Will they sue you? If they do, "NFL Sues Own Fans" makes a great headline.

Hi-
Just saw your web site today.
That is a riot! I happened to come across it while I was on ESPN.com.
Looks like you are getting some publicity through that site. If the Bengals
had a brain in their head they wouldn't have mentioned what the web site
address was and just talked about it instead. But that is the Bengals for you.
I am not even a Bengals fan but I found the site to be funny. I am a
Dolphins fan so as you can understand, I am suffering this weekend.
Just wanted to say best of luck to you with the site and against the NFL.
I love how they are worried about a freakin' logo and not about the fact that
they have players causing felonies and everything else under the sun!
Good luck-

Hi,
Just wanted to add my voice to the protests at the NFL trying to shut you
down after reading about it on NFLTalk. I'm a Chiefs fan so I have no
vested interest in the Bengals but as a football fan I support what your
site is trying to achieve, while as a passionate believer in freedom of
speech I am disgusted at the league trying to squash you. I'd agree with
Jason S that you shouldn't have removed your links, though: as you pointed
out yourself, if that's illegal then an awful lot of people are breaking
the law.
Yours,
Bernie

Gentleman,
Thanks to ESPN.com's coverage, I paid MikeBrownsucks.com a visit.
Your site is hilarious.
The Logo is hilarious.
What is the old phrase: Laughing and Crying are the same thing? Well, I'll
laugh, while you guys cry.
Reality is funny. Your comments are based on hard-won disappointment and
shame. What could be funnier?
I look forward to the 2001 NFL season and your subsequent reactions.

I am a Cincinnati area native currently living in

terms of his poor mgmt., I hope that your site can
bring about change, in conjunction with

Congratulations on making the front page of ESPN's NFL page. Maybe now some real pressure will be put on that clown Mike Brown.
Good luck with your legal battle and remember their are loyal Bengal fan's out here that support you.

Wow - I've been visiting your site since the fateful Paul Daugherty
interview with Mike Brown last fall and all I can say is...Wow! You've gotten
a ton of support! Loved all the responses, especially the out of towners.
It doesn't make us feel so alone in our disgust with Mike Brown. Do not
shut down the site! If they have a problem with Fraidy Cat, have
someone draw a Bengal tiger - the fricking NFL (No Fun League) doesn't own the
right to every tiger in town do they? And if Mike Brown ever tries to sue
you for libel or slander over the title of your site - well good luck to
him since everyone (even Shannon Sharpe) would say that he sucks and has
for quite some time now! I wish I new a good intellectual property lawyer
but I'm not in the habit of hanging out with the legal folks. I'd be
happy to give you a donation for your legal defense fund, just let me know
where to send a check!
Thanks for having the guts and for taking the time and effort to keep
this forum open. Misery loves company and we are certainly miserable here in
Cincinnati. I am a broadcast producer so if you want to put together a
PSA or something to further your cause, I'd love to help. I'm sure there
are a few of us in the film biz who would be happy to donate our time and
equipment if it would help you out. Good Luck and let me know if there's
anything I can do for you.

Guys,
I have been a Bengals fan all my life. At least I get the respect from
others: "wow, you must really be a Bengals fan to wear that coat!"
Anyway, just wanted to mention that I just heard about your site (ESPN - the
threat to sue). Funny how this is actually making more people hit the site.
You guys should publish stats of hits. It would be great to see how many
more people are looking at the site now!
Keep up the good work.

confused...
The NFL is threatening you because of the artwork on your web page?
It's a picture of a Bengal, not even remotely close to the "Official"
image. Lines are drawn in different directions, sizes are different
(teeth), and detail is missing. This is obviously an original drawing!
Is the NFL telling you that no one in the world may ever draw a picture
of a bengal again? Or a falcon, or tiger? Or even a dolphin!
(Personally, I could care less about the Bengals, I'm a Dolphin fan
myself, but this is not right)
I don't think they have a "paw" to stand on. Call their bluff, it
seems you have a lot of support from your fellow fans.

You know. It is funny how we the fans spend tons of money to keep the NFL
going and then they tell us we have no right to use a logo. Maybe the NFL has
forgotten that logo would not be there if we had not paid for it. Maybe they
should show more respect to us then that.

I got to your page from ESPN.com talking about you being sued by the NFL.
All I have to say is DON'T TAKE IT DOWN!!!! I'm not a Bengals fan but was
thinking of ripping off your idea for a McCaskysucks.com (I've been a Bears
fan for 15 years now) seeing as we're in the same boat with our "teams". I
probably won't put up a site but want to let you know that there are other
people out there who have watched their beloved teams dragged into the
deepest pits of HELL with no end in sight supporting what you do..
Eric B.
-
Dear Dave and Chase,
First I must commend you on the awesome site that is mikebrownsucks.com. I
am virtually bowing down before you.
We are birds-of-a-feather, brothers-in-arms, or whatever you would like to
call it. I run a similar site devoted to New York Islanders General Manager,
Mike Milbury. Please take a gander when you get the opportunity:
www.mikemustgo.com.
I never in my wildest dreams imagined that Milbury had a twin (some
coincidence that they're both named "Mike"). Both "Mikes" sound equally
inept and reviled by the fans of their teams. At this time, the Islanders
record is worse than the NHL's two first-season expansion teams - the
Minnesota Wild and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Islanders fans have been held hostage by bad ownership for 10 years and and
by "Mad Mike" for the last 6 seasons. The latest ownership group refuses to
fire him and the situation is becoming as big a joke as your Bengals.
Unfortunately, the Islanders do not get nearly the press coverage as the NFL
franchise you love so dearly. And that's only the local media. The NHL
cosistently ignores them, and this is a team that was once considered a
dynasty. They won 4 consecutive Stanley Cups from 1979-1983.
Milbury would never be as classy as Rick Pitino and accept the blame for his
team's losing ways, not to mention forfeit the remainder of his contract. I
think the only way to get rid of him is to carry him out in a body bag.
Keep up the great work, guys. Let me know what you think of my sight!
Regards,
Bill
Long-suffering Islanders season ticket holder and "webmaster."

I'm all for ya friend... Free speech, and the right to voice your

I just ran into your site after seeing the link on the USA Today website. I
think it absolutely ludicrous the way the NFL is trying to attack you. You
do have the right to free speech and to express your opinion. As a long
time raider fan, I can assure you I have felt your pain. It is quite
obvious to everyone who follows professional football that the Bengals
organization has no clue about football in general and is a shame to see a
concerned fan pushing for changes to feel the wrath of the NFL.
Good Luck

Fraidycat,
I live in South New Jersey of all places, but I have been a Bengals
fan since second grade (I'm 15 now). This area is Eagles territory, but I
can't stand that team. I am tired of reading the box scores and seeing the
highlights of Bengals loss after loss. Mike Brown is definitely not
committed to winning; I could try to lose and not match has record of the
past decade. He owes it to the teams beleaguered fans to put a winning team
together. He could start by resigning Dillon and actually hanging on to
some veteran players. A team can't be good without leadership, and I'm
tired of watching players like Willie Jackson and Sam Shade perform well for
other teams.
Thank you for starting a sight dedicated to showing the real facts
of Bengals football to out of town fans. I'm tired of the BS on the team
controlled site. Too bad Brown doesn't have the guts to get the hell out.
I've followed the team for eight years, and experience 0 playoff games.
ESPN did us all a huge favor when they mentioned you on
Sportscenter. I was thrilled to hear about you. Rock on!

Dear Whomever is in charge,
It's about time you had a website that someone has spoken up against Mike
Brown. I just heard about this site from ESPN saying that the NFL is
considering a lawsuit. Don't give in to them!! I want this site up all the
time. I didn't even know this website existed until I heard a report on it.
Please guys and get as many people involved in this site as possible. We
(the fans) are suffering from Mike Brown. I have been a Bengals fan ever
since I was 6 years old. I remember when the Bengals went to the Super Bowl
with Boomer and James Brooks and Company. I absolutely love your picture of
the sad tiger on it. We the people have a voice in this matter. If I can be
of any help let me know.

I just wanted to say thank you for at least trying to do something for our
beloved Bengals. I am, and always will be, the most hardcore Bengal fan
there ever is, but Mike Brown has made me almost be ashamed to even be
associated with the Bengals. We can't blame Jeff Blake or Carl Pickens for
leaving town, can we?? Who, in their right mind, would wanna play for that big
of an idiot. That's why I will be truely surprised if Corey Dillon comes back for us
next year.
Look at what we were when Paul Brown owned the team. We went to 2 Super Bowls
and were competitive most of those years. We at least went to the playoffs and had
respect throughout the league. But ever since Paul Brown passed away, Mike Brown
has done a great job of running our Bengals into the ground. It's been 10+ years since
we've seen the postseason, isn't that enough of a hint that he doesn't know what the
hell he's doing?? C'mon, I think I could run the team better than he can. He's always afraid
to spend big money on players that deserve it and we end up getting "has-beens" from
other team. This has to stop somewhere and I hope, somehow, that this websight will help
us Bengals fans, and the organization, return to our glory days of yesterday.
Sincerely,
Charles M.
-
fraidycat,
I agree with your Mission statement, especially this line... "The ownership
of this organization is causing a lack of balance in the AFC Central and the
NFL as a whole.".
It is Obvious your Totally fed up with more than a decade of inept decision
making and a decade of terrible Draft Choices. Now that Free agency is at it
highest Good players won't sign with the Bengals. While Other NFL Teams are
hard at work trying to build winners in there communities Mike Brown is
sucking off the Fat (17 billion dollars in TV REVENUE) of other NFL Teams
I really enjoyed your site and I can't believe the NFL is Suing a True
Bengals Fan.
My Heart goes out to you and all Bengals Fan.

Even thought I'm from Pittsburgh and, naturally, am a rabid Steeler fan, I
think you're fighting the good fight. As much as I'd like to see the
Steelers win the central every year, it would be nice to have the central be
a respected division again.
The NFL should concentrate on why the Bengals ownership has allowed the team
to tank year after year after year and be thankful they still have folks
watching the Bengals.
I wish you well in your fight and hope the Bengals can start turning it
around. Of course, I do still hope the Steelers crush 'em! ;)
Good luck.

Dave,
I've been in Cincinnati my whole life, 28 years, and I applaud your efforts to bring light to the embarrassment and incompetent ownership of the team.
Mr. Brown is much to blame, but it's too bad that our fans still pay lots of money to fill Mr. Brown's pockets. As long as our fans attend the games, Mr. Brown is content on fielding a non competitive roster. In my opinion, boycotting the games thus resulting in lower attendance would force tight wad ownership to sell or move the team.
It really is a total disgrace and an embarrassment to the entire professional sports world that this has been going on for over a decade now. Once again I commend your efforts, and I'm behind your first amendment rights all the way.
Take care and God bless,
Ted H.

Gentleman,
It is about time somebody stands up and says "enough of this #$%!". Ten years of this is way too long and it is no coincidence this started soon after the death of Paul Brown, rest his soul. The NFL and Mike Brown are no friends to the tortured fans of the Bengals. I would like to see a competitive team before I am an old man (I am in my 30's!!). This will not happen until this idiot realizes he is out of his depth- period. Remain strong and good luck.
Mike in PA
-
As a life long Browns fan, it has given me great pleasure to watch the Bengals reach all time lows in sucking. Three years without a team and two years of a horrible expansion team and I can continue to count on the Bengals to be no further ahead of the Browns all thanks to Mike Brown.
When will the Cincinnati fans wake up and revolt. I was shocked to see that anyone was willing to pay a PSL to see that minor league team play. By the way... nice field in the new stadium. What did you do Mike, bring in the old turf, I mean dirt from Municipal Stadium?
You were able to get rid of Marge Schott, make Mike Brown public enemy #1 in Cinci and get rid of the jerk!!

FraidyCat" and Company-
This lifelong Browns fan would like to add HIS voice to that of the folks at
BTNG; KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
The old man would rool over in his grave if he knew what Mikey Boy has done
to his team! I live in Chillicothe, amid many Bengals fans, and most have
long since passed from anger to abject apathy. When combined with the
near-death state of the new Browns, Ohio football is an EMBARRASSMENT!!
I don't know about you, but watching the "Tennesse Titans" (they're still
the Oilers to me..) playing the Baltimore Modells in the playoffs makes me
wanna PUKE!! Our problems in Cleveland are essentially those of most any
expansion team; what makes your situation particularly galling is that MB
inherited a solid organization and has run it into the GROUND!!
As long as that incompetant is in charge, I just don't see any realistic
chance for major improvement soon; you definetely have my sympathies. The
action by the League is absolutely transparent-they're acting as thugs for
MB. Stand your ground-you are RIGHT!
Good luck-root for the Raiders on Sunday.

As a life long die hard Steeler fan who bleeds the Black and Gold, I hate
the Bungals. Always have, always will.
As a life long die hard fan of the game and the NFL, my heart goes out to
those of you who do root for the Bengals. Mike Brown is a joke and his
franchise has quite possibly been the most pathetic in any professional
sport over the past decade.
Keep on with the website and do whatever you can to get your team back and
get rid of this abomination Mike Brown has created. Even Cincinnati fans
deserve better than what you've got.
Akili Smith really does suck. Enjoy Danny Farmer...the Steelers should have
never let him go.

Fraidy,
Keep up the good work. Mike Brown must relinquish his death grip on our
franchise!!
But don't overlook the enormous contribution that Jim Lippencott has
made to the downfall of the Bengals. As our personnel guy, this bum has
done very little right (save Takeo and Brian, the jury is still out on
Akili & Peter). He needs to be dumped as well!
He's is a former high school A.D. He's got no business in the pro game.

Anyone who knows anything about professional sports and owning a professional franchise knows that commitment for the very top (the owner) is fundamental to building and keeping a competitive franchise. I have the good fortune of living in Denver where Pat Bowlen has consistently displayed a willingness to field the best possible product and hire the best possible coaches and front office people. Unfortunately for the good people of Cincinnati, Mike Brown is everything that an owner of an NFL franchise SHOULD NOT BE. He is unwilling to bring in a GM because he knows he will actually have to spend money to field a better team. I don't honestly think Mike Brown wants the Bengals to win because it would necessitate spending more money on the team to maintain the winning product.
If you look at all the consistently losing franchises in the NFL over the past 10 years (Bengals and Cardinals most notably) you see ownership that is in no way committed to actually winning. They are committed to making money (as is their right to do so) but they know they don't have to actually spend money in order to make money. Has Mike Brown ever once come close to maxing out the salary cap? I doubt it.
Ownership will always dictate the direction a professional franchise will go. If ownership is unwilling to hire the right people the build a winning franchise, and also unwilling to spend money on the best players, the franchise will never win a championship. Mike Brown is everything an NFL owner should never be and Paul Tagliabue should not only force him to hire a GM, but also force him to put the team on the market (with a new stadium the franchise ain't going nowhere).
The difference between a Mike Brown and a Jerry Jones (besides the SBs) is that at least J.J. is gonna spend money to get FAs and he will always max out the cap (or go over it) in order to field a winning team. Neither should be a GM, especially Mike Brown, but the people of Dallas know that Cowboys will again eventually rise to the top.
I feel for the people of Cincinnati, its a great town. Unfortunately, it has the worst owner in the NFL. Web sites like MikeBrownSucks.com are the first step in forcing the owner of the Bengals to change his losing ways before true apathy starts, and apathy is the downfall of any professional sporting team.
Good luck and keep up the good work!

To whom it may concern:
I just wanted to thank you for the excellent web site. Finally somebody has taken the word to where it can be seen. I have lived in Cincinnati for most of my life and have that hometown loyalty, BUT I gave that loyalty up about 3 years ago. For the following reasons:
1. Just because a person has a famous football last name: SHULA, you do not let them lose like they did. He was not his daddy! Does this sound familiar? To quote a great scholar (Paul Harvey): Now the rest of the story!
2. When you do actually draft a good #1 pick??? How many are all stars? How many are still in the league? How many earn big bucks to go out there week after week to just lose more games? or get David Klinger syndrome?
3. Why do you continue to lose so much and continue to lie to yourself week after week that you actually ended up with a gene from your dad's football chromosomes? Lets get a DNA test done!
4. Why should I suffer any more than I have the last 10 years? I have seen other football teams go to the playoffs, lose next season and return a couple of years later. If we are on the rebound in Cincinnati, then we must be a city of midgets surrounded by giants!
5. Why did we build them a stadium first? The Reds win year after year and give us a good team!
6. Why set and watch Bungals (Registered trademark of all bengals fans!) each week, when you can follow a Sunday driver around town? or cut my toenails? Or watch the traffic on Montgomery road?
I thought about giving my top 10 list, but you got in trouble with the NFL already, I didn't want you to get in trouble with The David Letterman Show too!
I have lost enough, I am like Popeye "I can't stand no more!
Take care! LONG LIVE MIKEBROWNSUCKS.COM!!!!
Sincerely,

I was a loyal Browns fan until that liar Art Modell moved the team to
Baltimore, motivated solely by the need to provide a legacy and means of
gainful employment to his adopted son, "David the sniffer". It was Art that
screwed Paul Brown, too which begat the Bengals which begat Mike Brown's
GM-ship, which begat the web-site Mikebrownsucks.com which begat your
troubles with NFL Properties... therefore this is all Art's fault, that
bastard!
Hang in there and don't let those punks in suits trample on your First
Amendment rights to speak your mind. I didn't know about your site until I
read today's USA today, so the NFL's attempt to silence you seems to be
having the opposite effect.

I've been a Bengal fan all my life, and for the past decade or so, I've seen
the tyranical actions of a pathetic owner. Mike Brown is concerned with only
one thing....MONEY! The Bengals organization is one of the richest in ALL
sports as he saves money in not hiring any scouts and paying peanuts to below
average free agents.
Just to let you know, me and a lot of Bengal fans up here in Columbus, Ohio
are behind you and your site 110%. We will pass the word along here in the
capital city of Ohio about your site in order to gather more support for your

This has to be the funniest thing I have seen in months!
I was born and raised in Cincinnati - Milford/Hyde Park. I moved in 1993
when I was 26 to join the Navy and make a few bucks in Florida.
I have never forgotten my home town teams - Bengals, Reds, Bearcats,
Muskies, etc. I love to go to local bars that are showing teams that the
Bengals are playing in full Bengals garb. Twice now I have been in bars
(once in Virginia Beach - Bengals vs. Steelers and once in Orlando -
Bengals vs. Jags) where the whole place but my wife and I were rooting for
their team (not the Bengals). As the game went on and the Bengals were
winning - the louder I got and the more quiet they got! What a blast!
But.... these times are few and far between!
I remember winning a trip to Bengals training camp from WLW as a kid. My
friend and I were bussed up to Wilmington to meet the new rookies
(Collinsworth and Kirby Criswell). I got a full autograph book of their
signatures (Anderson, Munoz, Williams, Riley, etc). What a thrill! I even
have a signed Bengals hat from Forrest Gregg (he signed it at a Steak and
Shake for me). <-- he scared me to death!
Now the city pays for this monument to Paul Brown and they are still the
laughing stock of the league. They hire idiots as coaches (I am sure at
league minimum). The draft good players and watch them leave for greener
pastures. By the way, I about died when the drafted Akilli Smith! I
watched Dante Culpepper play numerous times down here in Orlando and I was
hoping against hope that the Bengals would get him. Of course not!
It's hard to fire the owner, but if the actually want to win they must.
The must do what the Lions have done and bring in some talent from the
outside - not old Cincinnati cronies - and pay them well and get on with
it. Remember when they brought in Forrest Gregg? No connection to Cincy
or the Bengals. What happened? I contend that Sam Wyche just rode Gregg's
success.
Anyway - i love this website! While I can't find myself wearing a t-shirt
saying 'Mike Brown Sucks' in big bold letters - I could see wearing one
with that cool logo and smaller version of the saying - all on the back!
Or polo shirt with it embroidered to it. Just some suggestion.
Keep fighting the 'good fight'!
Truly,
Christopher R. S.

guys,
I heard about your website through the USA Today. I agree with what's being
said:"MIKE BROWN STEP DOWN!!!!!!!!!" I am from Cincy and now live in
Milwaukee, WI. I left in 1987 and never really got to see Bengal games when
they were respected around the league. I had to watch from afar. I am still a
proud Bengal fan and still where my beloved Bengals hat during the football
season. It is getting harder to wear because of the constant harrassing I
receive from strangers when they see the logo. It's even harder to listen to
the radio because the most popular morning drive radio team constantly picks
on the bengals. The pair lived in Ohio for a short period and constantly make
refrences to how poor the Bengals are and how they are the Joke of the league
and the country for the most part. The Bengals are a reflection on the people
of and from Cincy. I still get harassed over the image of the WKRP show. Now
i take one for the team every week when the radio station does their weekly
handicapping of games. I would quit my job and run the team for free if I
could to make a difference in how the country views my home city. I am close
to telling people my home city is Milwaukee and not Cincy. Keep up the work
at the website. I will push it to every true Bengal fan I know.

was just bumping around the net and ran into your site and had to give you
props. As a 25 year Bengal fan from Cincy I, just like everyone else, am
tired of the misery. Love your web site and the response you provided the
NFL, that was a classic. Having lived in Denver the last 10 years I have had
the luxury of seeing first hand how good organizations are run. I must to
take an opportunity to point something out to someone who may or may not
care and could post this information if you choose. As you know, one of the
keys to success in the Pro ranks is scouting and drafting college players as
well as going after solid free agents. We all know the Bengal's have the
smallest scouting department in the NFL, to me this really isn't an issue as
long as there are QUALITY scouts in those positions. Did you know the
Director of Pro and College personnel for the Nati (Jim Lippencot) was an
ASSISTANT high school football coach in the 80's. I know this because he
was my high school English teacher at Cincy Moeller in 87. Now I know that
he moved up to AD of Moeller up until about 1990. I just wonder what would
qualify a High School Defensive Coordinator and Athletic Director for the
Pro Ranks??? I used to play High School Football, wonder if I could put in
for the open Offensive Coordinator position!! No wonder they have missed the
boat on SOOO MAANNYYYY drafts. Anyway, just a tidbit of info for you or
your website, please feel free to post this info if you wish. Keep up the
good site. I check it about once a week!!!

Dear Cincy Fans,
You guys have my undying sympathy. We here in Baltimore have been there.
When I read stories about Mike Brown's bumbling ways I cannot help but
notice the eerie similarities between him and the devil Bob Irsay. Like
Brown, Irsay was too damn cheap to pay for top talent, so we used to watch
NFL on Sundays and go, "Oh, there's another ex-Colt playing well for
another team." Ted Hendricks, John Dutton, Raymond Chester--the list goes
on and on.
Like you all, we were robbed of hope. And like you, we thought it
outrageous for Irsay to demand a new stadium, when all he did was take our
money and not put any back into the team.
Baltimore and Maryland did put millions into improving Memorial Stadium,
but it was never enough. Eventually, the Maryland legislature moved to
condemn the Colts and seize the team away from Irsay through eminent domain.
It was a final, desperate measure.
It failed when 1) Irsay snuck out of town and 2) the NFL did absolutely
nothing to stop him or punish him or anything.
Personally, I think the NFL owes a duty to fans in cities where owners are
taking fans' money but not doing anything to put a winner on the field.
There ought to be some sort of intervention program. Something. Besides
Mike Brown, look at Bill Bidwell. He's another sorry case.
I really do feel for you guys. When I read that Mike Brown has the smallest
scouting staff in the league and refuses to hire more scouts, I thought,
"Oh, God. How can you ever get good?" The draft is set up so that losing
teams almost have to get better, but if you have bungling ownership, then what?
I say carry on against Mike Brown. If we had this kind of weapon way back
when, maybe we could have ousted Irsay long before he moved the team. And
if he hadn't moved the team, maybe lots of other cities wouldn't have lost
teams or been bullied into building expensive stadiums.
One final note: The best football news out of Baltimore this past year is
not that the Ravens are one game away from the Super Bowl. No, the best
news was when Modell agreed to sell the team to a new, local owner, a guy
who few people can even remember his name, because he's so low key. That
means, thank the Lord above, we will be spared having an idiot son of an
owner take over our team--at least any time soon
Our new owner--Steve something--is a young guy, in his late 30s or early 40s.
And his kids are in elementary school.
We have hope--at least for awhile.

thoroughly enjoyed your response to the NFL order to basically get rid of
everything on your site - especially the last line regarding the way NFL
players have run amok with their felonious acts. Sincerely yours, a Chicago

Hey man whats up? Im from Wisconsin and I never even heard of this site until I looked at my January, 15, 2000 issue of Sports Illustrated. I dont know if you read it but it said something like they dont want you to post stuff bashing on mike brown and modifying the tiger logo. Well......I dont see anything wrong with it, hahahaha! The Bengals suck and Mike Brown sucks too and he deserves to get fired! I was gonna order one of your T-Shirts but they were too damn expensive hahaha! PLEASE write me back, i wanna hear what you think of what I just said. Later man

Fraidy Cat,
I am a 20 year old college student who lives about an hour north of
Cincinnati. I would like to personally thank you for trying to get Mike
Brown out of power. Fortunately, you remember the good times with the bad,
but the bad times are all I remember. I remember my parents having
superbowl party when I was 9, but I didn't watch the game. I check ESPN
Classic everyday hoping to see the game re played so I can watch it, but so
far I've had no luck. However, I am still a loyal fan. I always will be.
When I play Playstation I can't be the 49ers or the Browns because it just
doesn't feel right. I almost always play as the bengals just so I can see a
few wins a season. And that is the point of my letter. Ten years is a long
time for a team to be this bad. Kids have grown up, countries have fallen,
diseases have been cured, but we still have our losing record. In fact, when
this losing streak (or losing decade) started, George Bush was president.
The first George Bush, not the second. That was also the same year we
launched the Hubble and fought in Desert storm. Yes, that year also brought
an end to the divide between East and West Germany. The one thing that
reamained as solid as a rock through the last ten years has been Mike Brown's
bald head. I was ten when this all started. I hope to God that Mike doesn't
make me wait until my 30's or 40's until this is all over. If you think it's
appropriate share some of these views on your website. I think some people
don't realize how long ten years is until it's been put into perspective.
Maybe I should even try to get this through to Mike. Nah, he's so out of
date he probably doesn't even know what a computer is.

Fraidy,
Hang tough and you will persevere. Mike Brown has personally ruined football for me and my family. I used to wake up on Sundays looking forward to watching pro football and rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals. Now all I look forward to is some sort of sick thrill at how much more we can humiliate ourselves week in and week out as each NFL season goes by. The answer is not getting a new GM, it is getting rid of Mike Brown. If Mike Brown were to pick a GM it would be somebody in the mold of Homer Rice or Dave Shula and he would pretty much ignore anything that they say if it regards spending some of his precious cash. I could go on and on, but Mike Brown does not deserve any more of my time. Keep this site open as long as you can because it obviously bothers the man or else he would not have had Tagliapuke try to shut it down. Remember bad publicity is still publicity and ironically that is how I found out about your wonderful site. Thanks again for MikeBrownSucks.com. Your community friend,

Things could be worse for you. I live in Phoenix where I think the
media are derived directly from Mike Brown DNA samples. The only high
point of the fooball season for me was seeing my beloved Bengals beat
the worthless Cardinals. If you think Mike Brown sucks, try living with
Bill Bidwell. The only hope I have is that Mr. Bidwell gets pissed
enough to move the team so I am not forced to have to watch Cardinals
road games on t.v. (no one actually goes to their games so while I am
deprived of one football game a week when they are at home because of
the No Fun Leagues blackout rules, at least I don't have to watch the
Cardinals pathetic attempts at acting like a professional team). While
I am a devout football fan, I am starting to lose patience with both my
favorite team, the Bengals, and my home team, the Cardinals. Come on
guys, Jerry Jones ego led him to multiple Super Bowl wins in the 90's,
at least get your heads out of your asses for one year. Keep up the
good work guys, cause not only does Mike Brown suck, he probably takes
it in the ass too.

Sir:
I am commenting on your response to the 'cease and desist' order from NFL
Properties. I agree that you should maintain the Fraidy Cat emblem. I
disagree, however, with your decision to remove all links to the official
Bengals website and to discontinue the sales of Fraidy Cat merchandise. As
noted in your response, numerous websites link articles from the official
Bengals website. I contend that your website is being targeted because of
its explicit anti-Mike Brown message. This action by NFL Properties appears
to be arbitrary and capricious. As to the matters of Fraidy Cat
merchandise, since your position is that the emblem is a caricature
protected under the provisions of the First Amendment, then why should you
not be able to profit from said caricature? In a related matter, I would
suggest researching whether the popular caricature t-shirts of 'Thunder and
Lightning' (Ron Dayne and Tiki Barber of the New York Football Giants) are
officially licensed by NFL Properties. One last piece of advice: I would
suggest contacting the webmaster of http:www.savethebengals.com to form an
alliance against The Man.
Thank you for your time in these matters. Although not a practicing
attorney, I would be willing to support your ongoing crusade against Mike
Brown and NFL Properties through a financial donation. Please contact me if
I can be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Jason S.

I just found your sight this morning via the Cincinnati Enquirer and think it's great. I read the 'egregious' letter from Mr. Proper of NFL Properties and thought your response was excellent. One thought came to mind as I was reading your response...while the spirit of what you had to say was that you were being discriminated against (i.e. 'single out') you didn't actually use the word. In today's society few words strike fear into the heart of an organization like the word discrimination. It's obvious their intent was to strike fear into the heart of mikebrownsucks.com and it's obvious mikebrownsucks.com is being discriminated against so let's call it like it is. Use the word often...and liberally. Use it in any conversation with the NFL or Cincinnati Bengals, and especially use it in any correspondence, it may come in handy some day to have it in print. Just a thought.
Keep up the good work. Mike 'Silver Spoon' Brown does suck. It's painfully obvious from his record and work history that he is incompetent and incapable of doing the job he was entrusted to do. To make matters worse, his pride and/or arrogance keeps him from doing the right thing and bringing in the people that are competent and capable of doing what needs to be done. I don't know his personal record but I have to wonder, has he ever been a winner at anything? Personally I mean. Not as part of his father's organization in the Super Bowl years of 1981/1982 or 1988/1989 but on a little league baseball team, or a high school football team or maybe a collegiate team. My guess is "No". No self-respecting individual that proclaims to have a competitive spirit would repeatedly drag himself, his family and the people he has been entrusted to lead through the proverbial mud the way 'Silver Spoon' has. To do so would demonstrate a total lack of respect and regard for the individuals aforementioned. I have read articles in the press saying such things as (and I paraphrase) "Mike Brown would be great to have as a grandfather but...", suggesting that he possesses some admirable and great amount of personal integrity, but I would suggest just the opposite, saying that no one who possesses the personal integrity of the sort that is mistakenly granted to Mr. Brown would continue to do the things he continues to do or act in the manner he continues to act (or rather doesn't act). His continued indifference is the very fuel that insights the fire in those of us who are disenfranchised as fans. His inability to judge action from inaction is no doubt a considerable cause to the effect of the losing cycle the organization has been in for some ten years now. I mean Dave Shula for how long? Four years? Five years? Give me a break! No, I think ten years is more than enough time to draw conclusions about an individuals performance, and the unmistakable conclusion in the case of Mike 'Silver Spoon' Brown is that he is not qualified to manage an NFL franchise and he certainly cannot care about others the way he has been described to. I refer to Mr. Brown as 'Silver Spoon' because in my opinion that describes in the truest sense why he is where he is and why he isn't what he isn't - a Winner. To borrow a phrase from the recent Presidential election ( this was said of Republican George W. Bush); "The sad thing is, he (insert Mike Brown here) was born on third base thinking he hit a triple". And that's all I have to say about that...(said with a Forrest Gump accent)

Hey Crazy Cats,
A poignant, sharp and right-on perspective of an incompetent, arrogant
and all around joke of a football operation. The NFL teams need to be
responsible to their respective fans and communities, damn it, and kudos
to you ruffian truth seekers. A double kudo for having the guts to say
it like it is with your "damn the torpedo" attitude. The first
amendment rights were designed to allow the people have their say
against obvious injustices (er... in the Bengals' case, outright
incompetency and baffoonry) without fear of retribution by the state or
the thuggery of the Bengals front office in this case. Now the
pussycats have issued a cease and desist order against you cats saying
that this would happen even if you "we're operating the
welovemikebrown.com web site." Oh sure. That's consistent with the
type of leadership this lame team has to offer.
To the point: Keep up the pressure! The abuse of the NFL fan is coming
to an end in Cincinatti thanks to you.

Is there a way that Major League Baseball can cross sports, step in and
force Mike Brown out just as they did Marge Schott from the Reds?
......just a thought.
It must be terrible that a person in Cincinnati starts counting the days
until Reds pitchers and catchers report to spring training once the
Bengals START playing their season. Even with the financial inequities
of baseball, the Reds have a much better hope of winning than the
Bungles do in a league that brags about parity and a level playing
field. For the purposes of sports sanity, at least you have the Reds
and Bearcats basketball to root for when the Bengals stink it up.
If Mike Brown had the capability to learn from other people's mistakes
and failures, he really should look no further than his baseball
counterpart playing in Cinergy. Through shrewd management and player
decisions, the Reds have managed to field a competitive team in spite of
having to play on a shoestring budget. This is something that is
obviously missing in Bungle management.

As A Vikes Fan I have really no need to be here, but as an
AMERICAN I have every duty to support your page. The NFL is
picking you out to make an example, many of us fans have
team sites dedicated to our beloved team and some have a few
sites set up to discard an owner or a coach or a player.
Their is nothing wrong with that, if the NFL pushes negative
sites off it'll only be a matter of time until all sites are
pushed off the net and we have to PAY to access an NFL site.
Just wanted to let you know that ALL fans are supporting
you. Good Luck.

Allow me to introduce myself- my name is Glenn G.. I'm a
19 year old Jets fan from Queens, N.Y. The keyword here is: Jets fan. My
franchise was miserable for years and years until 1998. In fact, back in the
mid 90s when Bengals hero Boomer Esiason was one concussion from retirement
and Browning Nagle was proving what a waste he was, I screamed to see what
the 3rd stringer, some dude named Blake, had to offer. Needless to say, I
eventually found out by watching his highlights with Cincy, which turned me
into somewhat of a Bengal backer. Of course, I am and forever will be a Jets
fan #1 above all others, but hey, if my guys can't win, it'd be nice to see
Cincy win!
I think it's insane at the horribly mediocre job Mike Brown has done with
this franchise. Mike Brown needs to send up a flare because he's got no clue
how to run an organization. His drafts have been mediocre at best, and when a
star does emerge, he inevitably leaves via free agency. Putting the franchise
tag on Dillion will only lead to more animosity between he and management
because YOU KNOW he wants to play for a winner. Cincinatti is in danger of
one day becoming the Montreal Expos of the NFL, where young stars can ripen
on a miserable team only to be purchased by contenders.
Sadly, change needs to start at the top. It's been ridiculous in Cincy
and this threat by the NFL demanding that your site stop using the tiger logo
is ridiculous. If I was a lawyer I'd be thumbing through the books trying to
help you guys out. Unfortunately, I'm just a college student. But I want to
let you guys know that I think the site is fantastic- it's just the fan
involvement needed in order to let the management know that the fans are fed
up and not going to take it anymore. Thankfully, the late Leon Hess realized
that just before he died and made his only smart move as owner of the Jets,
bringing in Bill Parcells to bring respectability back to the one proud
franchise, though the coaching instability threatens that respectability.
Unfortunately, the inmate is running the asylum for you guys, and while Mr.
Tagliabue has the power to step in and do something about his obvious
ineptitude at running a franchise, he would rather waste his time nitpicking
with and harassing fans who deep down want to see the franchise succeed. No
wonder he's, to me, the FOURTH most successful commish in major sports in
America.
I wish you and your site the best of luck in the future. If ever I can
write something for you guys, please feel free to let me know- I do the
journalism thing @ school. Best of luck in your battles with NFL Properties
and your quest to help bring some respectability back to the Bengals and to
let Mike Brown FINALLY know that he's a total idiot who has no business
running an NFL franchise...running it into the ground no less.
-Glenn G.
PS- here's a quick plan on how to possibly get Cincy back on track-
#1- draft a defensive stud in the 1st Rd. and a RB in rd.2- you'll need a
feature back
when Dillion inevitably leaves.
#2- trade Akili Smith for a draft pick or two- he needs to learn by
example- and a
better one than Scott Mitchell can provide, although...
#3- Give Scott Mitchell the ball- he's the short term answer- he's a
veteran who will
know the offense and will be greatful for another shot as a #1 QB,
maybe his
last. Get him to lose some weight and come into camp ready to shock
the
NFL.
#4- increase Ron Dugan's role in the offense- Darnay Scott is not
guaranteed to
return at 100%, and this kid's got the skills. You know those FSU WRs.
Someone's gotta be a blocking WR.

Great site.
Back in the late 70's-mid 80's, people bitched in Buffalo about the Bills so
much, that Owner Ralph Wison had to open his tight wallet and get the job
done. The results spoke for themselves from 1988 on with 10 playoff
appearances in 13 years and four Super Bowl appearances.
Shake the trees and the foundation! Bitch and complain and threaten. Don't be
an enabler to this weak franchise until they straighten up their act.
Buffalo's a smaller market than Cinci and we got it done.

Attn : David Young
From : Max M.
Date : January 7, 2001
Re : NFL Properties Email
Mr. Young:
I am not a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals; however, I am a fan of anyone
assaulted by entities that wish to limit the free speech granted to
Americans by the United States Constitution. I recently, and
accidentally, became aware of your web site while searching information
at ESPN.com, and I quickly took the liberty to read both the letter sent
to you from NFL Properties and the letter of response authored by David
Young.
Mr. Young, I do not necessarily agree with your entire mission, nor it's
principles, to denounce the general manager of the Bengals or its entire
organization as a whole. However, I am outraged that the governing body
for content developed by the Bengals (a.k.a. NFL Properties) would have
the shortsightedness and unbelievable gaul to use their stature to
intimidate you and your web site.
I wholeheartedly agree with your actions and rhetoric as detailed in
your letter of response to NFLP, and I sincerely hope that details of
this action are quickly and effectively spread throughout the nation to
NFL fans of every team in the country. More law abiding citizens should
be aware of not only this particular injustice initiated by NFLP, but
also any company, organization, government body, or individual who seeks
to mute the voice of free speech in this great nation we call America.
I look forward to the outcome of this unfortunate situation, and I am
confidant that you will prevail and retain your first amendment right to
speak your opinion on a subject you hold so strongly in your heart.
Best of luck from an equally concerned Dallas Cowboys Fan!
Sincerely,
Max M.

You certainly have my sympathy and support for your cause. As for Mr. David M. Proper - having read the official transcript of his Cease and Desist order, I especially find the use of the term "Bengals' intellectual property" particularly egregious as this is an obvious oxymoron as is he.

I just want mike brown to know that he has ruined many many promising individuals careers and should be sued on that account and I wish that the NFL will not allow this franchise to draft any more 1st rounders until he gets serious about winning I don't want anymore young men to be ruined by the BROWN FAMILY's inability to field a winning team he shows no loyalty to his players and soon as they get seasoned he releases them or refuses to sign them and then their off to another team to make the pro bowl the way things are going we wont see a winning team this decade either ya see MB they need time to jell together.

Dear Fraidy,
While I am sorry to inform you that I am a diehard Steelers fan from the
'burg, i think what you guys at MikeBrownSucks.Com have goin on is great.
One of the Bengals games that I go to every year is the Bengals-Steelers game
in Cincinnati (I live in N. Kentucky). I have tremendously enjoyed this game
in the past but was disappointed by the performance by the Bengals. Two
years before, the Bengals beat the Steelers both home and away. Although it
pissed me off, I had to give it to the Bengals for doing it. This past year
it was the opposite, as the Steelers (finished 9-7) beat the Bengals (a
dismal 4-12) both home and away, both ugly and disappointing games by the
regularly competitive Bengals.
I could only reach one conclusion for this season's performance, and for
the sake of this match-up in the future, one answer to this
problem...............
STEP DOWN MIKE BROWN, I'M NOT EVEN A FAN AND I THINK YOU SUCK!!!

To your team:
I would like to congratulate you on this page. Personally, I am a New England
Patriots fan, and no this is not an email to gloat. Anyone who even tuned in
for a second of the Cincinatti/New England game this year deserves life long
bagels and cream cheese for their team loyalty. I found out about your site
from ESPN.com clubhouse information, which was listed on their main page. I
wanted to find out what all the rucus was about, so I entered the url for
your page and decided to visit. I would simply like to say "bravo" for your
response to NFL properties. All points that you made, in my opinion, were not
only true, but dead-on in every sense. It is refreshing to see a fan base
that is:
1) True to their team
2) Tells it like it is
3) Is not affraid to stand up to corporate bullies
4) Truly wants/demands the best from their "professional" teams
I wish you the best of luck in your trials and tribulations. If you get bored
however, please feel free to start a "www.patriotsorgneedshelp.com" website,
and don't forget to reference the game from this year. We have something in
common.

I was unaware of your site until I recently read the news story of the NFL's
attempt to squash your site on nfltalk.com. Let me say, even as an avid
Cleveland Browns fan, an attempt to stop a site as well informed as yours is
a travesty. Who better than a Browns fan can appreciate the new level of
ineptitude that Mike Brown has helped your organization achieve (or would
that be grossly underachieve?). Although I am not an attorney I have watched
them in the movies, on TV, and recently defending Carmen Policy (although he
would deny that along with the hefty fine he paid). With this experience of
legal viewing, I think that your case against this cease and desist order is
very strong. Perhaps even as strong as the prosecution's case in frying O.J.
Simpson (Let's just hope that you are able to obtain a better legal staff
than that).
I hope that you are able to keep your site up and running. Mike Brown may be
the greatest living example of how far a piece of rotted, bug infested piece
of fruit can fall from an oak tree (At least I think that is the saying, or
close enough). I mean, how can this man have possible come from the loins of
debatably the greatest professional coach of all time. If I were you guys I
would ask for a DNA test at this point. Hell, I think even Paul Brown would
ask for a blood test if he was here to witness the crap that Mike Brown is
passing off as a football team for the last 10 or so years.
With all of this said, may you be rewarded with some form of retribution for
having to put up with Mike Brown's crap. I mean, we beat you twice in the
last two years, and you eaked out one other win. That is pathetic because we
suck, bad. Hell, I am not even sure if you won more games than us while we
were are our 3 year hiatus thanks to Art (SOB) Modell. Of course, that is
one bright point, at least Brown didn't pick up your team and move it.
So here is to those great Bengal/Browns rivalries of old when you marched out
Boomer, and Brooks, and Munoz, and hell even Sam Wyche. May your team
succeed despite Mike Brown so we can look forward to a rivalry that actually
means something other than who will be picking 1st or 2nd in the draft.

I would be willing to donate my time helping you in any web
development. I am a student from UC who absolutely loves football but have
grown jaded towards Sunday football because I am forced to watch the
pathetic Bungles. I truly feel sorry for players who have no idea what
kind of chaos they have joined when drafted by or signed by the Bungii. I
don't presume that you need the help because the site looks great, but if
you do I have extensive experience in development and site
management. Good luck in the fight! It could be a land mark case with
concerns to intellectual property and free speech (how great would it be to
have the Ohio court enter into official court records - ".....NFL v. Mike
Brown Sucks"). If it's BROWN, flush it DOWN.

I am a positive supporter of your cause and website. Please do what you can to thwart the minions of Paul Tagliabue trying to suppress the desires of the fans as it impacts the root cause of their real interest; "maximizing profits of the NFL". I am naive enough to think that people like yourselves may actually bring change to this awful team.
Good Luck!

With Mike Brown at the controls, the Bengal organization is crashing down at
a rate that your website, or a cease and desist order can not accelerate.
Stand back and watch the entire structure shatter on impact. Mike is the
greatest demolition expert that ever lived. Leave him alone, and get out of
the way. The great organizational tree that Paul Brown visualized, is being
reduced to firewood by Chain Saw Mike.
Nothing can save the Bengals from Mike, they are his to destroy. Neither
your website nor the NFL, nor the Supreme Court for that matter, can stop the
carnage. Mike will see it to completion. Stay out of his way and the seeds
for a new structure can be planted sooner.

Sirs: I must compliment you on your rebuttal to the NFL's anal "cease and
desist" order. I think your last paragraph pretty much sums it up. The
parody of the "fraidy cat" is trivial compared to some of the stunts that
certain numbskull NFL players pull, etc. They should worry about getting
their own house in order before venturing out to hassle folks like you who
passionately speak their minds about something that is very real: the fact
that the owner of this football team, after the public built him this
beautiful facility (not counting the actual playing surface), won't lift a
finger to change what has proven to be a disasterous way of doing business
for the last ten years. He says, "We don't need to beef up our scouting
department, we know as much about players as other teams do." Who is he
kidding? The proof is in the pudding.
Are these NFL folks from Cincinnati or something?? (Cincinnati: a
relatively anal city where anything remotely fun [or that makes sense] is
legislated against. Side Note: I can rip on Cincy; I've lived here my
whole life--but I've seen and lived in other parts of the world and I can
tell you that this is the biggest "small town" on the planet. The "Mike
Brown mentality" permeates.).
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if your web site was brought to the NFL's
attention by a Bengal insider. I mean, is it someone's job there to scan
the web every day looking for perceived infractions of their rules/laws???
Ridiculous!
Give 'em hell, boys, and keep up the good work. Mike Brown does indeed
suck!!

GET PERMISSION FROM THE ZOO & YOU WILL HAVE BEATEN THEM BOYS' AT THEIR COPYRIGHT GAME.
EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT A BENGALS FAN, I LIVE IN HAMILTON COUNTY, PAY FOR THE NEW PALACE, THROUGH COLLECTED SALES TAXES & REAL ESTATE TAXES. I ALSO SELL LICENSED NFL APPAREL FOR MULTIPLE COMPANIES, THE LACK OF A QUALITY NFL TEAM IN OHIO HURTS OUR BOTTOM LINE. SO MORE POWER TO YOU.

Wanted to say I fully support your site. I have been a life long
Bengal fan and season ticket holder. I will never stop attending
Bengal games or supporting the Bengals, however, clearly Mike Brown has
not supported or developed this program. It pains me to continually
watch the Bengals struggle with the same problems each and every year.
Mr Brown's fear to turn operations over to someone outside of his
football comfort zone will continue to harm the development of this team
until he relents to the continual pressure of failure.
Part of that pressure will hopefully come from this site and will give
all of us a place for hope and discussion.
We are supporting the Team!

Re: the NFL's letter, I think the ACLU might be a good group to
contact. I certainly question them on some issues, but they're usually
pretty good these kind of free speech issues. The NFL's position on
the linking of articles is rather suspect, since the link itself
credits the owner of the material. If that is illegal, then every book
report I've done since the 5th grade is also illegal!

I just read in the paper Mike Brown has went crying to the National Football

I just started reading from NFLTALK.com and visited your site.
Are the T-shirts still available? If not on-line, how about through the
conventional method? (snail-mail).
Gotta tell ya bro, I've been a Seahawks fan for 25 years, never really had
an interest in the Bengals, but the obvious loyalty you and your readers
share is what makes me want one of your t-shirts. I think you are telling a
truth here...I think the Bengals leadership should understand that...I hope
for your fans and supporters sake you able to continue!
Good Luck to you!

Give 'em hell Dave. You have a great site. They had a blurb on the NFL's
wisdom and a link to your site on www.NFLtalk.com. I think you last
paragraph in your response to the "cease and desist" letter sums it all up.
I, unfortunately, am I Cleveland Brown fan. Just remember though what we
say up in Cleveland: while Mike Brown may suck, Art Modell swallows.

the team better.

I just want to tell you guys that your response was awesome. Especially that last paragraph. You really hit the nail on the head on that one. Great Job!!!!

I love it! Thanks to the enquirer for getting the word out about your
wonderful site. It feels good to know such sites exist.
Great changes are taking place in the front office (sike) pathetic that they
'demote' Ken Anderson. Fire that man! Wow! One new offensive coordinator
that can't hire any assistants. Look out NFL we could win 5 games next
year!
I wish I thought you were fighting a cause that could be won. Hope can be a

Well, first off, great job on the site.
I'll admit I am not a Bengals fan (Browns fan actually), but I can
appreciate (if that's the right word) what Brown has done for your
franchise and your feeling on the subject.
It will be interesting to see what Brown will do in regards to the Dillon
situation. It seems like he's going to stay in Ohio, be it in CIN or CLE.
Great response to NFL Properties. What a load of crap their letter
was. First of all, you're allowed to use copyrighted material/logos in
satire (as your logo clearly is). There's nothing wrong with that at
all. It's the same thing Saturday Night Live does when they mock ABC or
CBS or anything like that.
I'm glad you mentioned the other web sites who do the same thing in terms
of using articles.
But the best part of your letter, clearly, was the last part. LOL! That
was fantastic.
Keep up the good work and I hope our games next year are more exciting (at
least more so than the second game, boy that was an ugly game on both
sides).

Hello, I just wanted to say that I applaud your effort. I am dolphins fan (recently relocated to Atl.) but I would do the same thing if I were a Bengals fan. I do remember the days when they were good and with all of the draft pics they should be at least competitive. As far as the NFL's letter, I enjoyed reading it and I feel that your response was right on target. Particularly, the last paragraph, which is going to be the downfall of NFL marketing if they do not correct the situation.
Thank you and good luck.

Dave,
I just wanted to give you a hand for speaking up for all of us who really
want to be Bengals fans, but find it harder and harder to admit so every
season. I hope you find solid (free) legal representation, to keep your
sight going. I read the article in today's enquirer.com, and immediately
went to check out your sight and sign your petition. I also forwarded the
address to as many people as I could, and by the looks of things, today's
Enquirer article has got others many to do the same. Good luck, and I am
with you 100%

Hey, I have a web design company in the Nati and think what you're doing
is excellent. Definitely keep the fraidy cat -- don't let the NFL's
scare tactics get to you. They're just trying to save face -- after
all, they supported building the new stadium, etc. and backing out on
Mike Brown now would be embarrassing.
Cheers!

-
Of all the stupid and stubborn things Mike has done, the worst was putting
all his eggs in the Akili Smith basket. Aside from the opportunity to trade
for all those New Orleans draft picks, Brown could have drafted at least a
half decent QB, or waited a year or two to do so (Jeff Blake would certainly
have been no worse!). Akili is a lot like Blake in that neither ever looks
for an alternate receiver, except Akili is also inaccurate as a passer. If
it's possible to choose the worst Mike Brown offense ever (even worse than
Klingler), this is it. I'll bet if Chris Weinke is available in this year's
draft, Mike'll pick him too. He loves those older former minor league
baseball players!

He Fraidy Cat--
AWESOME response to the "cease and desist" order from the NFL. I hope
everything works out for you there. I don't know any lawyers, but I hope
you are successful in finding one, because this action is nothing more than
a poorly-camouflaged attempt at censorship by the powers that be in the NFL.
Apparently the actions of a couple of guys who care enough about their team
to design a website expressing their concerns are a bigger threat to the
well-being of the NFL than the gross mismanagement, leading to the potential
collapse, of one of their franchises.
Good luck, and keep fighting the good fight! Rest assured that TRUE Bengals
fans across the nation support you.

Mr. Young,
I just completed reading your response to David Proper at NFL Properties and
couldn't agree with you more. Although I am no longer a fan of professional
sports, due to the arrogance and self worship of it's players, agents and
owners, I think what you are doing is great. Mike Brown needed to be told to
take a hike several years back when he threatened to leave Cincinnati unless a
new stadium was built. I feel that should the NFL Properties follow through on
the lawsuit that they have threatened, a possible countersuit could be filed
against Mike Brown for breach of contract. I am not an attorney, however I feel
that Mike Brown is in breach of contract due to his statement that in order to
provide a competitive team, we need to have a state of the art stadium. He went
on to talk about how revenue from luxury boxes, increased stadium capacity, seat
licenses etc. were all necessary ingredients to fielding a successful football
franchise. I , as a taxpayer living in Hamilton County, feel like i have been
misrepresented through the above comments made by Mike Brown. Now that the new
stadium has been built, the Bengals are still not fielding a competitive
football team, are well under the salary cap, have the smallest scouting staff
in the NFL, and have an owner who is not accountable to anyone. Due to the
above facts, I feel that a class action lawsuit on the behalf of the taxpayers
of Hamilton County, as well as a violation of the first amendment against
Mikebrownsucks.com lawsuits should be seriously considered.
Sincerely Yours, Tom N.

am from Southern Ohio, I have been living in the S.F. Bay area now for 15
years. I followed the Bengals until the second Super Bowl loss to the
Niners. I received constant ridicule for that loss. That was abuse I
wasn't willing to take. I was no longer going to stand up for the Brown
family and their incompetent handling of the Bengals. After swallowing a
very large glass of scotch I wrote off the Bengals and Football forever.
Thank God for the NHL. As a loyal Reds fan I have been paying close
attention to the Stadium issue and how it has played out. The Brown family
held the City of Cincinnati hostage and the poor saps fell for it. The
people of Cincinnati should have learned a lessen from the Baltimore Colts.
They should have packed up the Bengals belongings under the cover of
darkness and moved them to Tennessee when they still had the chance. Well
you folks missed a golden opportunity. So the new Paul Brown stadium opens
and the Bengals show their real stripes. Life long season ticket holders
are screwed with their seats, the teams performance doesn't change and words
from the front office call out that now they have to start to put a better
product on the field. They are about two years too late. They should have
hit the ground running. I wasn't going to waste my time with the subject of
the Bengals any longer. That is until I was emailed an article about your
web site and the NFL's cease and desist order. You guys are awesome!
Someone is standing up and is going to get Mike Brown out of the front
office. The City deserves better and Mike Brown isn't the one who will be
able to deliver. FIGHT THE POWER! Good luck!

Hi,
Heard about your plight with the NFL's legal action. What a bunch of crap.
I can feel your pain although I haven't gotten sued yet. Me and some
friends are huge Syracuse U football fans who are totally fed up with their
coach, Paul Pasqualoni so we started a site called
http://www.coachpmustgo.com We've come under some heat for it but rest
assured that you're doing the right thing no matter what anyone says. I
think it's shameful how the Bengals count pennies when it comes to paying
scouts (they have nobody in that department)
Good luck and if you get a chance, check out our site for something similar.

I heard about your site on 1360 Homer. It's awesome, but don't invest too much time or money defending it. Mike Brown and his regime of Football Nazi's aren't worth it.
I realized the cold-hard truth several years ago...The Bengals will never win as long as Mike Brown owns the team. NOT just being the GM. GM is only a title, with no more gusto than Janitor in the Bengals organization. A GM will be a puppet just like Dick LeBlow, Bruce Loselet, Dave Shulose, etc. with Mikey-Boy pulling the strings. Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise. After seeing the light, my Sundays are actually enjoyable.
The bottom line is nothing will change as long as people purchase tickets to the games. It might be hard to swallow but these fans are Football Nazi sympathizers. The Swiss knew of the atrocities the Nazis were commiting, but they still lent the Nazi's money to fund the war effort. Bung-gals fans are exactly the same way, only much, much worse. They know Mike Brown sucks, and what he is doing is pure Football Evil, yet they still give him their hard earned cash with nothing in return. The Swiss earned interest on their money, the Bung-gals fans' earn a wasted Sunday Afternoon and a depleted bank account.
So, the real problem is the Football Nazi Sympathizers (the Fans). Mike Brown has no catalyst to change, and you, me, or anyone wouldn't either if we were in his shoes. It's simple economics: A greater profit margin is achieved by minimizing expenditure while maximizing output.
Remember that every fan who pays for parking, buys a program, walks through the turnstiles, and purchases a pop/beer every Sunday at Bedinghaus Stadium are to blame. If you are truly dedicated to the cause, you will not give one dime of your money to the Pigskin Satan, Mike Brown. If one cent goes from your wallet to his, then you are not truly serious about your cause. I refuse to go even with free tickets offered. I know that I will buy concessions, and I refuse to let that to sell my soul. I encourage you and all fans to do the same, otherwise suffer the same fate year after year. (Remember: doing what you've always done will get you what you've always got-Mike Brown keeps doing the same thing year after year, and keeps acheiving the same results. Fans keep shelling out big $$ year after year, and Mike Brown keeps doing the same thing.)
Best of luck,
Mike A.

I would just like to say I saw the story on your web site just now on Channel 9 News and boy are you guys going to get some traffic now! I ran to my computer to check out your site and I loved it! I loved your letter in reply to the NFL Commission. My father's an Intellectual Property attorney here in Cincinnati and a very good one if I do say so myself, and I'm going to see what he has to say about the letter they sent you. Do you have a copy of what they sent you on the site? I didn't see it if you did. (Hopefully his firm isn't representing the "enemy" and I can get some free advice for you!) My guess would be that the Weenie himself tattled on you. I don't know if you've sought legal help or not, it is expensive I know. Not promising anything though but it doesn't hurt to try! Keep up the good work and don't let them ruin your fun, you have a great site there!

I heard about your web site on the local news (WCPO - 9) in Cincinnati and
also ESPN SportsCenter. Between you and WEBN with its rendition of "Who Let
The Dogs Out?", entitled "Who'll Kick Mike Brown Out?", it refreshing to see
how the TRUE fan regards the franchises in this sorry town!
I was born and raised in a small Midwestern town known for its rabid fan
base. In fact, St. Louis was named "Best Sports Town" by The Sporting News
for the year 2000. Through the 1998 season, the "Lambs" and the "Bungles"
had identical records as the WORST teams in the NFL for the decade of the
1990's. In 1999, as we all know, the Rams went from worst-to-first and the
Been-Gals went from worst-to-disgraceful. Although St. Louis couldn't repeat
their prowess this season, they STILL made the playoffs, while Cincinnati
rejoiced that they finished ahead of the lowly Browns. Isn't 4-12 supposed
to be an embarrassment?
Keep up the good work and let's hope that the Bengals can finally turn
things around and repeat the glory that was 1982 & 1989!

Hi,
I have been linking to your site from http://www.johnnyroadtrip.com for a
few months now, and I just saw you on ESPN. Great response to the NFL
letter! What a load of crap that is!!
I went to high school with a guy named David Proper, I wonder if its him; he
was a goddamn loser. Sounds like him. He seemed like a lawyer back in high
school. I think his father was a lawyer too.
I am a big Ravens fan, and although I enjoy the two wins over the Bengals
each year, I'd rather they had a competitive team. I was out there for our
game in Cincy, that's quite a stadium they have.
Anyway, good luck in your Fraidy Cat fight. Your point about your site
actually promoting the NFL is totally and 100% true...

Being a Browns fan, I hate the Bengals! Being a football, I hate Mike Brown. Yes, it's true that we both have no future with Mike Browneye running Cincy and Dwight Clark in charge of the Browns' personelle; but, I liked it much better when we hated each other's profootball team rather than hating each others NAIA calibur squads. Sorry Malone Highschool, I mean college. What the hell happened to Ohio football? I remember the days of Kenny Anderson, Bernie Kosar, Art Schliester (sp), I think the correct spelling is inmate A746918, Pete Johnson, Archie Griffin, with OSU not his HOF type pro career, Kevin Mack, Forrest Gregg, Woody Hayes..... Maybe the christians are right. As I've heard, "god is the great equalizer". The lord giveth (Paul Brown to both of us) and the lord taketh away (Mike Brown and Art Modell) Thank god there is only one John Cooper because the way it is going now one of us will have him as a head coach next year.

Mr. Cat,
I am not a Bengals fan but I cheer and applaud your stance with NFL
properties. It's a sad commentary the NFL has chosen to continue to alienate
the real "fans" of the game who continue to bleed for their teams and whose
passion is stronger than your average corporate fan, the preferred
demographic target market for the NFL....it's apparent to me that the No
more Fun League is flexing it's big business arm at you in hopes of scaring
you into shutting your site down, please do not do this. I am a Chargers fan
and many times I have dreamed of creating a site similar to yours as you
might or might not know the Bolts are owned by the greedy and bumbling
Spanos family who have brought SD: 3 winning seasons in 17 years of
ownership, a paltry sum compared to the Bungles of the Mike Brown ownership.
But nonetheless they have done absolutely nothing but perpetuate anything
but bad sports teams in San Diego. We have had to endure the Spanos owned
Chargers, the Tom Werner fire sale Padres and the Donald Sterling Clippers
for a time. I would like to ask permition for your advice and interaction as
I am one of the few Boltheads to have taken such an unpopular stance not in
line with mainstream fan thinking.....it is a position that leads you to be
somewhat isolated, especially when you stand firm in your conviction and
principles. Once again, I am respectful of what you are trying to accomplish
a Super Bowl Championship for your Bengals. I believe there is nothing wrong
with that. There is nothing more despicable than tolerating and fostering
mediocrity and the status quo.
Sincerely,
Fab M.

Although not a Bengals fan currently, and not a former Bengals fan, I read
with pleasure the response to Mr. Proper at NFL Properties. You are
correct and righteous in your protection of your first amendment rights.
Love the site!
If I had a paypal ID, I'd send you a few bucks just to increase your overall
profit margin from your merchandise sales myself.

Defender of the faith-
I am an avid sports fan in central Ohio. As such I cheer for the Buckeyes, Reds, Bengals and Blue Jackets. Also, as any responsible sports fan should do, I have just finished Bob Costas' book Fair Ball. It literally boggles the mind how the Queen City can have such a stark contrast in front office leadership. Costas points to the simple facts that Football has a fair economic structure and Baseball does not, as such any nimrod with a decent scouting staff can build a contender in the NFL, Rams, Falcons, and Ravens all jump to mind in recent years, but it is wholly the case that it takes a huge bankroll to even look interesting in MLB. Yet, somehow the system works in reverse for Cincy!!!! Why must the Bengals be the only team under the salary cap every time a report is published? It sure as hell isn't helping our image! Yet, Jim Boden manages to structure deals that always win in the end for the Reds. My buddy has always told me he wishes it was the sixties because people got assassinated for less than what Brown has done, I'm starting to agree.
Brown is not trying to outspend anyone, he doesn't have to... HE HAS A CAP!!!!!!!! He is just a plain moron who is a disgrace to his father's memory and the proud legacy of football and, indeed, all sport in the state of Ohio. He should be booted from the league faster than Marge was.

found out about your site because of the news it generated.....take a
negative and turn it into a positive.....i hope you will keep the site. i bet
i am not the only one who hits the site....keep it up!

About time someone gives it to Mike Brown. Funny thing is, this is getting
so much more publicity to your site than it ever would have alone. DOWN WITH
BROWN. IF IT'S BROWN, FLUSH IT DOWN.
-
I was unaware of your site until I recently read the news story of the NFL's
attempt to squash your site on nfltalk.com.
Good Luck!

Dear Dave (or concerned others):
I found your site thanks to a link at www.brownstng.com - just thought you
might want to know they're talking about you over there without cussin' or
nothin!
So this is just a quick note to thank you for having the intestinal
fortitude to respond in the way you have to the overweening Goliath that is
the NFL's legal arm. Kudos to you and your supporters. Now, I'm not even
remotely a Bengals fan; cut me and I bleed Brown. But the battle you are
involved in crosses all team boundaries - and league boundaries - as far as
I'm concerned.
Perhaps this is the end of the NFL's attempts to shut down any legitimate
note of dissent from the fans; but somehow I doubt it. I'll check back on
your site to see what - if anything - develops further in your particular
case. But if it comes down to a potentially expensive legal mano-a-mano, I
would like to see real, serious football fans band together to assist you in
what is clearly a right and courageous stand against corporate oppression.
This is a fight that must be fought sooner rather than later.
Don't get excited - I'm not a reclusive dot.com billionaire or anything like
that. But I would be one of (I suspect anyway) many folks who would be
willing to contribute in whatever fashion possible to your continued and
unaltered web existance despite the clear wishes of Mr. Tabliabue and Mr.
Brown to the contrary. I'm talking about whatever support is necessary -
fax campaigns, phone calls, petitions, tomato hurling or even - shudder -
monetary...
As you well know, vociferous fans of the Browns (and other teams - not least
of all the Bengals) fought to keep our franchise name and properties when
the NFL and Art Modell would have happily let them disappear. History tells
us we can succeed together again if we all make a SIGNIFICANT effort. On
the day we win, I'll go back to hating you Bungle scumbags the way any
self-respecting Browns-backer should :)
Keep us posted as things develop. Tell us what you need and how we can
help. If you develop a mailing list of contacts, put me on it right away
. You are by no means alone in your distaste for what is happening.
Sincerely,
Mark A.

media accomplishment and free advertising for your site. Hope the t-shirt sales soar because of it.
I wish I would have known about your site sooner!! I could have logged on to your site as therapy every Sunday to share my anger and frustration about this lame-ass football team from Cincinnati.
Your site is awesome. Keep up the good work as long as you can. I'd be more than happy to give you space on my web site for your own Mike Brown Sucks page.
I'll wear the t-shirt with pride!

I saw your debut on channel 9 news. Your final word was right on. This my whole bitch about Mike Brown. First, with the city is that here are a bunch of rich babies (players&owners) complaining about this and that when the stadium wasn't done on time and Bob Butthaus paying Mike Brown X amount of dollars for seats that are not sold out. Whatever ! ! All I got to say is Thank God Bob is gone. Secondly, I am a Mother of a two year old and I am really concerned with our schools in cincinnati. Our schools are closing good teachers losing jobs and children being bussed all over cincy. And there is Mike Brown On top of everything still wanting more money. I say the hell with that old buzzard and let him dig into his pocket and help our schools. I have not heard of anything that he has done for anyone. Especially our community. But however Bob Butthaus is driving a nice new car.
Thankyou for your public support with this web site. But I am Affraid Mike Brown will cause you lots problems. But hang in there, there alot of us out here that can appreciate What you are doing and giving us a voice.

Just found out about MikeBrownSucks today. It's about time someone did something like this. It would be one thing if the Bengals were no good on Mike Brown's dime. That would be his business. However, after hitting up the tax payers for his new palace, it's our business. This was wrong from the get go. There are quite a few folks out there who don't give a rat's ass about football, yet they help pay for PBS. At the very least, we ought to have a team that isn't a national joke.
Sincerely
Joe P.

Dave,
I am a die hard Steeler fan but I feel your pain. I am behind you 100% and the No Fun League (NFL) better look over their shoulder because the XFL may give them a black eye. I am always a Steelers fan first but it is time to get rid of Mike Brown and get a real owner in Cincinnati, it is killing the spirit of the teams both yours and mine.
Take care,
Spike

Good luck in your fight against the NFL Properties. I especially liked the last paragraph of your response. I agree that those who profit most from professional sports have their priorities all screwed up.
While I haven't lived in Cincinnati in over 20 years, I remember the years of Kenny Anderson and before that, the years of Paul Brown. (I will always hate the 49'ers for what they did.) The one common denominator over the past 10 years of dismal football is Mike Brown. Too bad he doesn't have the kahunas (spelling?) to fire himself.
Keep up the good fight.
